Queenstown accomodation

Hi. My girlfriend and I are travelling round NZ for 3 weeks in December. Our last stop is 3 days in Queenstown before we fly back to Christchurch..and then home. It's my girlfriend's birthday whilst we are in Queenstown and I'd really like to find a nice place to stay. Doesn't have to be swanky or plush ..but romantic with beautiful surroundings would be great. I know she'd like to be somewhere where we can just lie back and watch the stars together! Can anyone help with any good ideas...thanks...(from a hopeless romantic!)

Your girlfriend is very fortunate :)

I can't suggest any specific place as there is so much accommodation in Queenstown all offering a private balcony with stunning views

Take a look at www.wotif.com for some good discounts.

Have a great visit :)

"romantic with beautiful surroundings" shall not be found in the downtown area. Suggest you look in areas on fringe of town which have more charm. You'll find the atmosphere you're looking for in areas such as Glenorchy Rd, Dalefield & particularly in Queenstown's historic neighborhood of Arrowtown. Good small luxury B&B's & boutique hotels in these areas

I also earn lots of 'brownie-points' taking my wife to Arrowtown. We tend to gravitate to the historic zones for their distinctive character. Very atmospheric, great dining [important if you aim to woo!] & close to all the action. We've tried a number of the hotels. Millbrook has good facilities - golfers like it. My wife preferred Arrowtown House for touch of luxury & 2-min walk to the eat-street
