Queenstown - Hotel / March 2013

I will be doing the Ultimate Hikes Classic Hike in March 2013. Looking for a hotel for 2 nights prior to the hike and 2 nights after.

Any recommendations?

In particular, it would be nice to find a hotel that has an airport

shuttle.

Thanks!

Hi,

To paraphrase the Eagle's Hotel California, once you have checked in you wish you didn't have to leave :-)

Queenstown Hotels with airport shuttle service:

1. Azur - pricey $$$$ - out of town a bit - luxury

2. Mercure - midrange $$ - out of town a bit but ok

3. Pounamu Apartments - Midrange and above $$ - nice

4. Amber Lodge - budget but ok $

5. Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel B & B - very nice - upper end range $$$

6. Discovery Sherwood Hotel - budget to midrange $ - ok

7. Lomond Lodge - more budget really -but ok $

8. The Rees Hotel - hotel rooms / apartments upper end range $$$ - nice

9. The Spire Hotel - pricey $$$$- in town - nice

10. Hotel St Moritz - upper end range - very nice $$$ - in town

11. Sofitel - upper end range - very nice $$$ - in town

There are a couple of others but this is a cross section.

Cheers :)

Thanks very much for that listing.

I'm not looking for a luxury thing - just somewhere that I can stay before and after the 7-day trek through Milford and Routeburn tracks.

I know I can search the ratings - but there's always a hope that a local's knowledge would help refine the choices.

If you want somewhere that's ok and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, close to or in town, I would suggest looking at the following:

1. Amber Lodge

2. Earnslaw Lodge

3. Lomond Lodge

4. Comfort Inn Melbourne Lodge

Each are accessible via their own website and show current availability. I would also suggest booking earlier rather than later as these often book up quickly even in March.

Cheers :)
