Suggestions Hotel for a Group of 15 couples plus a few kids

We organise a group of people each year to do a trip, and this year they have chosen Queenstown in October. Looking for suggestions on accommodation where there are things to do on site (maybe a pool for the kids) and maybe not too far from a selection of restaurants/shops? Golf is usually on the list of to do's, and the "Group" are mostly older people, so the "thrillseeking" things to do, probably won't interest too many. We will probably do some day trips - eg cruise, sightseeing, so any other suggestions would be really helpful to get things started. Thx GBLyn

Queenstown has a lot of things to see and do. Have at look at this page.

Thank you Trelawn - that has given me some food for thought. Someone in our Group referred to the Millbrook Golf Resort as a place to stay. Looking at the map, it looks like it is a fair way out of Queenstown and I'm wondering if it is too far when it comes to doing the day trips etc. What do you think? There are some golfers in our Group, but definitely not everyone.

What sort of budget are you looking at? There are plenty of centrally located 4 and 5 star hotels which can accommodate your group - also a high number of motels if working with a lower budget.

Take a look here and see what appeals - wotif.co.nz/hotels/…

If staying somewhere out of the town center some tours will still collect you from your accommodation. A wine tour, 4WD tour, LOTR tour and so on will collect from your door if there are a few of you.

Happy planning :)

There is no need to base your self in the cbd . There is a lot of merit in hiring some vehicles, as you have seen the main attractions are 30 - 45 minutes from Queenstown.

See what the hotels offer you and go from there. Arrowtown has a lot of very nice bed and breakfasts and guest houses. Is it that important that you all stay at the same place?

Thank you WanakaLakes - 4 or 5 star will be our budget. Thank you for that link. I guess I'm trying to find somewhere that will cater for all people eg those who want to relax around resort, those who wish to play golf, those who wish to sightsee/thrillseek - but still be a group the rest of the time.

Trelawn, yes we do need to stay at the same place, we do have a couple of meetings whilst there - you could say a very lowkey seminar - but a lot of networking.

The Novotel is in a great location, right next to the lake and lots of cafe's, shops around in the immediate vicinity of the Q'town mall.. Plus its walking distance to almost everything, including the skyline gondola, the Kawarau jet, below zero ice bar etc...
