Hi,

The difference isn't in the craft it is where and how they are operated. The Shotover Jet operates at high speed in a narrow canyon giving a real thrill ride with some gold prospecting/mining history included. The others are less of an adrenalin buzz and more of a tour in more open waters.

It depends what you are looking for?

Cheers,

Hi,

We went on the Shotover Jet in the weekend.

Lots of high speed thrills and 360deg turns in between the canyon walls.

You get really close to the cliff faces and the driver makes sure you get your moneys worth!!

Afterwards we sat in Queenstown drinking our coffees and watched the other 2 jetboat companies driving in circles in the open water....no comparison!

TQ,

Will the other 2 much lesser thrills and lesser in speed ? What's the fun in the other 2 then ?(sorry not quite sure what's "adrenalin buzz" rush" I thought the word "thunder" should be the fastest :)

Strangely enough, not all of us consider extreme speed to be the only kind of fun. My partner and I really loved our KJet ride, especially the gorgeous scenery along both rivers and we had plenty of thrills to satisfy us, but we also got in some pretty good photography as well. We thought it was money very well spent and both of us were glad we didn't get into a 'thrills-only' boat ride.

Hi,

Unless you have done both you would find it impossible to understand. You are comparing a drive in a tour coach with a ride in an open wheeler. Different strokes and all that..........

TQ again,

I believe Stopover Jet should be far superior based on the price :-)

But I have just booked the flight and cruise to Milford Sound, so I do not wish to spend much anymore.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference between the KJet & Thunder Jet ? Their price is close.

Have done 2 of the 3. The difference is where they go. I believe only the shotover jet can access the narrow Canyons. It was by far the best. We tried another one because it was cheaper. But it was just lots of 360 degrees in the lake and the lower river which wasnt nearly as exciting or spectular. Stick with the shotover jet.

TQ for the link but honestly you cannot from their descriptions. Everyone is described well and more or less the same. In fact Thunder & KJet describe even more places to see and their rides are 60 mins each compared to 25 min; but cannot tell which of the 2 is more thrilling.

I think your question was answered earlier by Poppy NZ (#8).
