Transporting 7 bikes from Christchurch to Queenstown & back

My son & his six mates are flying into Christchurch with 7 mountain bikes packed in bike boxes. They are hiring a minivan to travel to Queenstown via Arthurs Pass, Hokitika, Fox Glacier but cannot transport there bikes with them. Does anyone know of a relatively cheap and reliable way of getting their bikes to Queenstown and return to Christchurch?

Thanks

Couple of options: hire a goods van and put the bikes in there or google freight companies based in Christchurch and email them for quotes. Is it for a race - it would be a lot easier to hire a bike in Queenstown.

pedal?

otherwise contact the bus and freight companies and see what they can suggest. I can see the $$s mounting up.

If the bikes aren't to be used in Chch, why not fly directly (with the bikes) to Queenstown .... or simply leave the bikes at home and rent bikes once in Queenstown?

Best of luck :)
