best travel weather in Queenstown

Trying to throw together a trip to the South Island at the last minute. Flexible on travel months. Can start as early as Nov thru the end of Jan. Could you rank the months??

Also, what are the best months to avoid the crowds?

Thanks in advance

Greg

Summer in NZ runs from Dec through to March, but school is only out late Dec to end of Jan so those are the weeks to avoid for crowds. Any time after 6th Feb (Waitangi Day public holiday) up to Easter is ideal IMO; however outside your time frame.

Crowds are relative in NZ - how long are you planning to stay? If one month then Dec might be best but if it is only 2 weeks or so, why not come at the later part of January? Generally only the week from Xmas to NY is utterly crazy.

Later the better, Nov/Dec weather is still pretty average.

Feb/March has most settled weather. Latter half of Jan through to end Feb is the warmest.
