5 Days in and around Queenstown

I am going to spend only 5 days around the Queenstown area and was wondering if you could give me a suggestion for the last 2 days.

Mar/26 (Mon) : Arrival to Queenstown around 5PM

Mar/27 (Tue): Queenstown

- Jetboat at shotover jet

- Onset Hot Pools

- Watch(?) bungy jumping

- If possible take a helicopter ride to a glacier or Wanaka

Mar/28 (Wed): Drive to Milford Sound and stay at the Milford Lodge

- Long scenic drive

- late afternoon cruise

Mar/29 (Thu): Drive back to Te Anau

- Perhaps stay at Milford Sound in the morning.

- Possible check out the glow worm cave late afternoon

Mar/30 (Fri): Either stay at Te Anau or Drive to Lake Wanaka?

- THIS IS WHERE I NEED SUGGESTIONS

Mar/31 (Sat): Leave from Queenstown around 1PM

Did exact thing out there except milfords lodge (stayed in the overnight cruise which is expensive). Check under New Zealand tab of www.rainyhills.com for detailed information about this trip.

Personally I would head back to the Queenstown area, take a trip up the Skyline Gondola and ride the luge, or visit nearby Arrowtown pretty township with gold mining past and a lot of history. Wander ths hops and cafes and waterfront of Queenstown and maybe take a trip on the TSS Earnslaw along Lake Wakatipu.

Rather than hang out in Queenstown I suggest you head up the road to Glenorchy and kick back in one of the most spectacular parts of New Zealand.

Bruce is right...either drive the road to Glenorchy and walk the easy Sylvan Lake loop track.....or...stay nearer to Q-town and drive the road up to The Remarkables and walk to either Lake Alta or better yet, the Shadow Basin Lookout. You might squeeze this drive/walk in on the jetboat day also maybe.

You're gonna love it!

Wanaka offers a relaxed lake resort with wonderful hiking and so much more. But on such a brief trip you can't see everything. I would save Wanaka for your next visit :)
