is there a quiet spot where we can get by without a car?

we are looking for a little slice of gold coast where we can find a beachfront self contained apartment for a week, and get by without a car rental. Don't want to be in the middle of theme park hustle and bustle, but would like to be able to get to local sites, restaurants, grocery stores, on foot or by public transportation ... any recommendations

Do you have a budget in mind?

What are your ages and will you be travelling with kids?

What time of year are you intending on coming?

If you want to be somewhere central to most touristy things, yet fairly quiet - then check out the following buildings in your price range:

Hi,

As B/Bum mentioned apartments at Broadbeach would suit you or Coolangatta is a lovely laid back village with plenty of apartments, cafes & restaurants.

Have a look at Currumbin, IMHO it is the quieter area of the Gold Coast.

We have stayed at the Rocks Resort which was nice and great views of the beach and ocean. There are plenty of accom options within walking distance to a few cafes and restaurants as well as the surf club. If you don't mind a walk you can walk along the beach to Kirra for basic groceries otherwise you will need to catch a bus to most other facilities.

You should find very good rates in Feb as school is back, it is low season and everyone has spent all their money over the holidays.

Enjoy

Just a point, some may argue that Currumbin is not so quiet due to aircraft noise, however I still think it is a hidden gem.

I would have thought that just anywhere from Southport to Coolangatta would meet your needs. You may want to be away from Downtown Town Surfers but just about anywhere else is pretty quiet and relaxing. We stayed at Surfers Royale ( a timeshare resort) across the road from Q1 last June and you could have been anywhere it was so quiet and yet you were close to where it all happens should the inclination take you. There are apartments low rise and high rise all down the coast

$1500 for a week's accommodation gives you a pretty good choice even in the high season. I would be looking further at what part of the coast you want to stay as most suburbs have quiet areas. Broadbeach is about the centre of the Gold Coast.

As you can see I live at Main Beach and Pacific Views is nice and what you get!

What about Burleigh Heads??? It has good accommodation on the beachfront with access by foot to the local pubs/clubs, cafes and supermarkets.
