Broadbeach VS Surfers Paradise

Hi

This is my 1st trip to Gold Coast , i found that apartment on Brooadbeach is cheaper , i can afford both locations but is it worth it to spend $$ to stay on Surfers Paradise ??

I want advise location wise , I will take 2 Bedroom apartmentcon with Meriton , a family with 3 adults and two kids , i think i will rent a car

So are there shops , cafes and resturants in walking distance ??

What time they close ??

IMO Broadbeach is nicer for families, not so noisy and full of party animals as Surfers Paradise. Nice restaurants, nice beach and close to Pacific Fair shopping centre. All is within walking distance of Meriton apartments in Broadbeach and easy to get the bus to Surfers Paradise to look around.

Hi Kavedas,

Have you thought about staying at either Burleigh Heads or Coolangatta?

If you have a car Surfers/Broadbeach are still only 10 mins away if you want the hustle and hassle and traffic.

Both Burleigh and Cooly are much more family friendly than either surfers or Broady.

They are older sea side village type centers with much much safer beaches and a better vibe all-round. Both have a large headland to walk/explore. Heaps of cafes and restaurants etc in both. Cooly is bigger but further south.

One point to remember. The high rise buildings on the surfers strip cast shadows on the beach from mid afternoon in summer. Not sure when you are coming.

If you kept with either Surfers or Broadbeach, I suggest Surfers. If you are going to do the classic built up beach area holiday destination you my as well go all the way. Surfers has more to do generally than Broadbeach.

Enjoy the "Goldy". (ie Gold Coast)

The locals like to end everything with a "y" sound if they can!

I agree with the first two posts, that Broadbeach is better for families. Less busy, noisy and touristy.

Newyboy .... probably better not to confuse overseas visitors with the awful b***tardisation of our language/place names that some people have adopted. And while I admit that many locals here use these terms not all of us do or want to :)

wow 10 mins from coolangatta to surfers, you must be flying newyboy. id say 30 mins is more like it.

definitely broadbeach is better than surfers for your situation with a family and still close enough to surfers to visit during the day if youd like.

nessie, thats a funny comment, not to b****tardise the language...is that your name nessie? or maybe vanessa????

It wasn't meant to be a "funny" comment. I was simply making a point .... shortening or adding a y/ie to the end of words can be confusing for those for whom English isn't a first language ... and even for some whom it is.

And its by choice that I don't use my real name as this is a public forum, not that I need to justify myself :)

I agree that Coolangatta is at least 30 mins from Surfers by car on a good run. You coulddouble it if catching a public bus.

You dont say what building you are considering in surfers so I will say that the Meriton is a very nice new building in a good postion. Short walk to the beach with a busy road out front. Ask for a room on the beach side.

Easy walk to the Casino and Cafes precinct.

Regards,

Beachy ;-)

If we go "down the Coast" (40mins drive from Brisbane) ...Brissie,

we prefer the Cooloongatta/Burleigh Heads area, as there's not as much traffic and the beaches are less crowded.

As for a Goldy, I thought that was a XXXX Gold (beer)

Do agree Broadbeach is better than Surfers though. :) :)
