Which Area should I stay in Gold Coast?

Hi,

First of all, I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I am going to Gold Coast this August with my family 5 adults and 2 children (7yrs and3 yrs). I want to know which area is the best to stay in Gold Coast? I am considering between Broad Beach, Surfers Paradise or Main Beach. We are going to rent a car so distance will not be a problem for us.

May I know which area is more live at night for us to do shopping or visit night market? We will be occupied on day time since we are going to visit theme parks (Sea World and Dream World) so I still have night time slot to fill in. We are going to visit Gold Coast from Thursday to Saturday. On top of that, we want to avoid pub/areas as we have kids with us.

Besides, which beach is nicer for us to stroll along in the morning and spot dolphins if we are lucky enough?

Thanks!

Both Broad beach and Surfers paradise is good. As you are going with kids, you need to be a little bit more careful when strolling during night.

Another vote for Broadbeach & Main Beach - excellent restaurants & cafes. I'm not a great fan of Surfers. I recommend Broadbeach if you have a family.

Surfers Paradise is the most "alive" at night, but it also has the most Pubs and Nightclubs.

Broadbeach is a good compromise.

Surfers Paradise definitely does have more attractions like Infinity, Haunted House, Ripley's Believe It or Not, etc. which are usually open until later at night time. However, I don't think there's any "must" to stay in SP, as you can quite easily get from Broadbeach to SP, if that's where you're staying. Having stayed in both SP and Broadbeach, we tend to prefer Broadbeach more, but, SP is quite convenient (shops there tend to open later than anywhere else on the GC). Take note that Thursday nights is generally "late night shopping" so shopping centres like Pacific Fair (big shopping mall in Broadbeach), Robina Town Centre in Robina, and others tend to open until later than usual.

For night markets, there are night markets on The Foreshore in Surfers Paradise on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:30PM-10PM, assuming there is no bad weather. However, please do not expect them to be anything like those in KL, as these night markets are definitely a lot smaller!

Good luck with your planning and have a GREAT time on the GC! :)

I love Main Beach but it is probably betterr for a couple or a romantic spot. I think Broadbeach is a good spot for your needs.

Dont stay in Surfers.

Definitely Broadbeach is good for families, great surf club on the beach, major shopping centre and casino. It just has a nicer atmosphere and they also have markets in the mall on the beach. Have a great time.
