1. Islander Resort, Sleeping Inn Surfers, Couple O' Days Backpackers are all located within Surfers and within walking distance of the beach.

2. not much 'stall' food around the area. The hostels should have facilites to DIY with goods from the supermarket. There's a Woolworths at Centro.

3. it's beer, does cost matter?

4. Online from the actual theme park website, or from your hostel as they may include transfers to and from.

5. gcshuttle.com.au/sit_gcs_freedom_gold_passes…

6. Head to Orchid Avenue and Cavill Avenue for all the night time action

Seven Eleven do NOT sell beer in Aust stores. You will find numerous chains of bottle shops. BWS, Liqourland, Dan Murphys. Sometimes attached to (and owned by) supermarkets. And just like the supermarket they will weekly specials.

Look outside for flyers and advertising re 'happy hour' or other promotional drink prices

If you are on a tight budget, DO NOT purchase the Freedom or Gold Passes, as mentioned above. You really need to travel a lot before you get good value from the pass. Also, don't need to worry about how to get to the theme parks - Public transport is easy to use, so, no no need to get private transfers like through GC Tourist Shuttle.

For car rental, go for a reputable company and not just the one offering the cheapest price. Read terms and conditions very carefully, so, you are not caught out.

For accommodation, look up reviews posted here on TA or through sites like www.hostelworld.com/

For cheap eats, try the Surf Life Saving Clubs, which you can find many. But, otherwise, self-catering is a good option as Rexona mentioned - There is Coles and Woolworths (two major supermarkets), so, you can go to either. Also, keep your eye out around for specials at different cafes/restaurants because some often offer good deals.

This is the website to purchase your pass for Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild: https://myfun.com.au/vip-pass.aspx If your actual trip isn't until September next year, then, there is no point purchasing the pass now because it is only valid until June next year, so, just wait until the new pass that covers next year comes out. The VIP Pass is usually offered each year, and is normally cheaper and a better deal then their other passes like the Super Pass.

For Dreamworld, look on their website because they are owned by a different company to the one that owns Movieworld, Seaworld and Wet 'n' Wild. They have details on the tickets/passes on Dreamworld's site.

Just to clarify ... Instead of purchasing the Freedom or Gold Pass, either pay your bus fares on board the bus to the driver or purchase a Go Card (which means you pay cheaper fares than if you paid with cash).

Try this www.backpackersinparadise.com.au - $19/night for a bed, walking distance to the beach, and the Billabong bar for social events in the evening with fellow backpackers
