Advice on itinerary

We are traveling in March to Brisbane to visit our son who is studying in Robina. We would like to see the area where he lives but have no interest in theme parks, just the natural beauty. Should we remain in the gold coast area or go to the sunshine coast as well. We also are thinking about Cairns and a day trip to Lizard Island. We also plan to take our son to Sydney. We have two weeks to fit it all in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Gold Coast is much more than Theme Parks and has just as much natural beauty as anywhere else. Head to the hinterland for heritage listed rainforests if that is your thing.

I would spend 4/5 nights in each destination. i.e Gold Coast, then fly to Sydney, then Cairns.

Should fit nicely.

From the Gold Coast, it's just a one hour drive to Byron Bay. If it's natural beauty you are looking for, it doesn't get much better than this. You could easily do a day trip or stay there for an overnight.
