Don't go to Toowoomba on Sunday

We arrived at Toowoomba around 11 am on a Sunday. On the main street Margaret St, all shops were closed except a couple cafe. There were no people on the street. Just like a ghost town. Very weird to us city folks. However the town itself is well planed (if you don't mind all the one-way roads). Big parks and the Picnic Point Lookout, perfect for a family day out.

Some people like it when Toowoomba is quiet.

Glad they planed the roads..i hate lumpy bits ;)

Once upon a time people spent time with their family on Sunday got out and had a picnic instead of being forced by the almighty $ to open their small business at minimal profit because the local business association or huge corporation who owns the mall forced them to open or lose their lease..

I am sorry but you just said the place was great for a family day out..don't the people of Toowoomba deserve that too?

Hope they have put up a few signs since we were last there a few years ago. we just couldn't find the Visitor Information place. Apparently we had missed a tiny sign high up on a lamp post somewhere! We eventually stopped at a caravan park and asked them where it was. very friendly people pointed us in the right direction. Must say, once we found it it was a great Visitor Info place. we went on to the Japanese gardens at the Uni and to the view point at the top of a huge hill. Probably missed the shops altogether - even though it was the middle of the week - afterall, seen one seen them all. Also went to a brilliant winery somewhere out of town - great service and lovely lunch.
