Air-conditioned family hotel Launceston for New Year's Eve

We are starting our 18 day trip around Tasmania on Dec 31st arriving on the ferry in the morning and aiming to do a clockwise circuit of Tassie, starting in Launceston for the first 2 nights. Is this a good place to spend new year's eve? Is there a hotel, etc some-one can recommend for a family - preferably with a family room or connecting rooms that is not too pricey. We have 2 teenage boys 13 & 15. Have looked through the trip advisor reviews and nothing is jumping out at me - it would also need to have airconditiioning...

Also, would there be much open on new year's day around Launceston? Thanks...

Try this place: http://www.tasvillagemotel.com/

It's a little way out of the CBD.

Otherwise, these places are listed on TeripAdvisor as family hotels: tripadvisor.com.au/Hotels-g255344-zff4-Launc…

There has not been any community evening event for New Years Eve in Launy for a couple of years now, but we live in hope.

Most places will be open on New Years Day.

The tasvillage motel doesn't have air-conditioning.

Found Tamar River Villas does have A/C (on request) in their 2 bedroom apartments, and also Adina Place Motel Apartments. Which would you recommend? Thanks!

I think they're comparable places. I'd probably go for Adina as it's a little closer to the CBD, but the Villas are a good budget choice too.

Would you think that as it being new year's eve it might be a bit quieter at the Tamar River Villas?

Adina is most of the way up a steep hill. Yobbos don't go up hills, I find. :)

But, yes, the Villas are in the suburbs and ought to be quiet.
