Self-drive boat hire at Lakes Entrance, Gippsland

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Lakes Entrance in September, and am thinking of trying out the self-drive boat hire, offered by Rivera Nautic and other companies. Wonder how safe this would be, as I have no prior experience handling boats.

Thanks

If you are going to skipper the boat yourself, and the engine capacity is larger than 5hp, then you will need a boat licence.

Hi Cath, if you are going to hire through a company such as Rivera Nautica then you won't need a licence. You will find a cruiser very easy to handle and someone from the company will take the boat out and bring it back in so you don't have to worry about docking. Have fun
