Hello again-- looking to do a 2-3 day hike in Abel Tasman without going with a guided tour group as we prefer to hike on our own and would like to save a bit on that expense. However, we are not planning to bring camping gear other than packs with us to NZ, so we would like to stay at some of the hotels/lodges within the park rather than the huts. Would love advice on where to leave from/head to and and suggested lodging... thinking we will be coming from a night in Nelson (though we could stay the night before closer to the park if that were recommended) and start off in the morning. Hike in one day, stay somewhere, continue on to either a second hotel in the park or just day hike that day and return to the same hotel and hike out on day 3. Not sure how things would work with our car if we head in to the park from one spot and then exit at another point though-- is it easy to obtain taxi/ferry back to the starting point? Thank you so much!
