Getting from Nelson to Stephen's Bay and back

We are going to be in Nelson for 2 nights in January, and want to spend one day going to Abel Tasman. There is a day tour that leaves from Stephen's Bay that looks very attractive. How can we get from Nelson to Stephen's Bay and back--we won't have a car.

You could take the Abel Tasman Coachlines bus which runs Nelson to Kaiteriteri, if the schedule matches up. The bus is $20pp each way. Make sure the bus company knows to drop you at Stephen's Bay - they will drop you at the road and you walk the 3 minutes to the dock. http://www.abeltasmantravel.co.nz/

Or for the $80 bus fare you could possibly hire a car for the day.

I would ask your day tour company for exact details - it is possible they might even know of someone coming that way who could offer a lift.

best of luck :)

have a look at the big jet boat at the Nelson Wharf.....not sure of the company name ...... this shoots across and could be a good connection.
