2 days in Abel Tasman

We arrive on the early afternoon ferry from Wellington Day 1 pickup our car and drive to Nelson. Our goal is to spend most of our time in Abel Tasman, flying to Queenstown early on day 4. That gives us two full days in the park. Any suggestions for accomodations and activities? Thanks for any assistance.

What is your fitness level & what activities do you enjoy?

You could get a water taxi into the park; tramp for 2 days, staying in DoC huts & get a water taxi back out on day 3 or 4.

You could spend 1 day on a water-taxi trip with a short walk & 1 day visiting wineries or Golden Bay in the car.

Or you could do a kayaking tour for one day etc....

The Abel Tasman Park is about hours drive from Nelson so I would suggest getting accomodation at Marahau (there are cabins, backpackers and motels there - if you have sleeping bags I would suggest cabins or back-packers which puts you in a camping ground situation). Early the next day you could combine water taxi, kayaking or walking for either one day or both days. If you opt for one day in the Park it would be relaxing to have the extra day at the beach at Marahau. Marahau is the beach area where the water taxis and kayaking tours leave from. The taxis are Marahau Water taxis and Abel Tasman Water taxis. Cabins are at Marahau Beach Camp, The Barn and McDonalds Farm. Hope this helps.
