BYO Restaurants

We are travelling the Sth Island Sept/Oct & intend to visit wineries & purchase wines.

I have not noticed any restaurants saying they are BYO ...is this a practice in NZ or is there corkage etc ? If we choose to take a bottle of our own wine, Thanks !

1. Re: BYO Restaurants

There are a mixture of fully licensed and completely unlicensed (in both cases you can't take your own booze in) and then the in-bewteen BYO which does let you, and will charge corkage. Dineout.co.nz does a reasonable job of telling you which category a particular restaurant falls into, but they depend upon being told in order to tell us.

Hi, Thank you that's helpful..so many restaurants...so little time.. all the restaurants/cafes we are considering are fully licenced but their wine/beer etc looks excellent..however, we'll make use of our wines I'm sure :)
