boating in the bay of islands?

My wife and I are looking for a place where we can rent a boat and explore the area- similar to the Abacos Islands of the Bahamas. Is that opportunity available in trhe Bay of Islands, NZ? In the Bahamas we rented a house with a dock and rented a Boston Whaler to use each day to fish and snorkel. Is this feasable in the Bay of Islands??

Thanks,

jody

Here are a few sites to check out, most boat hire is for yachts and they are mostly based at the Opua Marina. The 3rd site has smaller dinghies that may suit you if you're just wanting to go off the beach. You would need something bigger if you want to venture around the point and into the islands.
