Driving to Uluru to view sunrise from Ayers Resort

Hi,

Me and a friend was thinking of renting a car on our visit to the Red Center a few weeks time. Was wondering is it doable to drive from the Resort to Uluru for the sunrise view? Which means we would have to leave the Resort before the sun rises. Would it be too dark? as we know driving when its dark is dangerous. Should we take the express bus/tours for sunrise/sunset view instead of driving on our own then?

Couldnt seem to find any info on this on the net. Input much appreciated! :D

No issue

You'll find yourself in a queue of cars at the entrance

TIP: leave about 10-15 minutes before the bus is due to pick up. The buses are much slower althought they seem to get in quicker, kmake sure your pass is paid for the day before (turn right at the t intersection, many of the buses do the drive around first

Hi there, no problem driving as there will be a stream of cars heading that way. Have a look on this website

ayersrockresort.com.au/sunrise-sunset-viewin… Once you are in the park it is really well signposted to the lookouts. We left with plenty of time and to a good position on the viewing platform and it really did get crowded loser to sunrise.

We loved doing it ourselves. The stopping places for private cars are well signposted and different from the tour buses.

We also saw sunrise and sunset at the Olgas and sunset at Uluru. Much more freedom with a car.
