Arlie beach

We are 4, sprightly 65 yr olds will have one day to see as much as we can on 23 February 2014 arriving on cruise ship.

Would like to see a little of barrier reef, also Arlie town itself.

Is there a glass bottomed boat or an underwater observation place or half day trip around the islands and can we stroll around the town and see most things on foot. Any info appreciated thanks!!

Hi there

You won't have time to do both, I'm sure there would be shore tours you can do, suggest if there is an option to go to Reef World pontoon and they have a submarine and glass viewing area, otherwise all the tours are snorkelling ones no glass bottom ones that i'm aware of. Most day trips are on sailing ships, raft boats or there are hop on hop off boats that take you to Hamilton and Day Dream islands however you cannot see the reef or fish as much as going out in the reef itself on a boat.

As for Airlie Beach it's a very small touristy town with one main street, you can walk it in half an hour.

If the ship is going to Cairns there are some other glass bottom boat options up there.
