Shute Harbour Long Term Parking

Hi there everyone,

Has anybody used this place for parking?

Is it undercover?

Is it safe? (from wayward doors, key scratches and trolleys)?

Is it secure? (from break-ins, etc)?

Is it walking distance to the Shute Harbour Marina?

Thanks for any replies. Much Appreciated.!

Mitch

Hi Lorraine,

You may want to check your travel information. Cruise Whitsundays do not operate out of Shute Harbour to Daydream Island anymore. They only operate a few direct services to/from Hamilton Island (3 times a day).

See: cruisewhitsundays.com/resort_fulltimetable.a…

You will most likley find that your transfer vessel leaves from Port of Airlie now.

HOWEVER (and this is what gets me as completely stupid). Yes there is parking at Port of Airlie, however it is open air, not terribly secure, and cannot be booked in advance (all the benefits that Shute Harbour Parking had). Not to mention it is run by the council.

whitsundaytimes.com.au/news/…

Parking just changed this month and is now $15 per day.

Regarding Shute Harbour though, having used this place I can now answer some of my own questions.

[QUESTION] Is it undercover?

[ANSWER] Yes it is.

[QUESTION] Is it safe? (from wayward doors, key scratches and trolleys)?

[ANSWER] Yes it is. Cars all park on an angle and parking spaces are wide enough to open doors safely.

[QUESTION] Is it secure? (from break-ins, etc)?

[ANSWER] Yes. Cameras on the entry and exit, none (from what I could tell) on each level. Ticket requires validation to exit and in order to enter, an attendant has to manually open the door.

[QUESTION] Is it walking distance to the Shute Harbour Marina?

[ANSWER] Yes, only about 2-5 minutes walk depending how fast you walk.

However the current owners were/are looking to sell up, as now that the transfer vessels rarely leave from Shute Harbour Marina, there isn't a lot to see/do there.
