Hi,

First and foremost, the Blue Mountains not anywhere near a beach.

There are numerous options available for accommodation, and it depends on what you're after. Ranging from basic to luxury, B&B to resorts, it depends on your budget and taste. With kids, the MGallery Fairmont is a reasonable option, as it is very much a family resort styled property, which has plenty of activities should the weather turn nasty.

the nearest you will find to beaches in the Blue Mountains is probably on the banks of the Colo River! what exactly do you mean by "Or is there any place near a beach that we can put up in ?"

When in December are you visiting - school holidays start a week before Xmas and anywhere near a beach will be popular (and more expensive than at any other time of the year)

Tourist site info can be found in the green bar at the top of the page

Have you asked your two teens what they would like to do - in my experience travelling with kids, asking them to contribute to the famiy itinerary avoids all kinds of grumpy behaviour. They are probably better at finding stuff on-line that you are so get them to work!

Will you have a car or are you travelling via public transport?

Unless you are keen bush walkers I would think 4 nights is too long in the Blue Mountains.

If you just want to see the main tourist sites in the mountains then 2 days is probably long enough. Then you can spen 2 days near the beach. Well, anywhere in Sydney is near the beach. Or you could go to a beach resort town either on the Central Coast north of Sydney or th South Coast.

Whayis you daily budget for hotels? That would help with suggestions. As KVE said, theres accommodation to suit all budgets in the mountains.

Well...there is the Jellybean Pool, out from Glenbrook - in the National; Park.

You'll certainly need a car.

The nearest beach is 2 hours away from Katoomba.

And agree with Eva that 2 days is enough in the Blue Mountains unless you plan on hiking a fair bit.
