Confused and need your help, where to go after Surfers??

Hi there,

we are spending a week in Surfers paradise in April to take in theme parks etc so will be pretty busy and keep our sons (12&18) happy!! After that we plan to travel up to the sunshine coast (we are driving) for a further 7 days. The idea of that 7 days is to stay somewhere with a view - either river or beach, be able to walk into town for coffee or dinner, that's not too expensive, have a great pool and possibly tennis for the boys and really unwind. I have seen some good and bad reviews about the Novotel Twin Waters, so not sure if that would provide what we are after being walking distance to cafes. Thought maybe Mooloolaba, Noosa??? Would love some feedback, thanks!

Novotel is great for children but not so close to anything at all.

Mooloolaba or Noosa would both be better situated for your cafes etc. Both have plenty of hotels and resorts to pick from.

Caloundra would also be a good location to have beaches, cafes etc nearby. Mooloolaba has a bit more life than Caloundra and is more central to the Coast. It would really come down to what hotels in each place you could find that suited your needs/budget.

Personally I've never seen the attraction of Noosa over other places, particularly as it is more expensive. I find it gets boring pretty quickly. But a lot of people love it - it just comes down to what you like.

Twin Waters is a self contained resort - you can't walk anywhere from it. It's also a little bit of a drive from anywhere.

Cotton Tree is a good spot in Maroochydore. It has river and beach, lots of cafe's & takeaway shops and its close to Sunshine Plaza for shops & movies.

Novotel Twin Waters is a great place, river and beach etc but no it's not within walking distance of very much. Rooms are clean but not overly modern - think 80's peach colour schemes. Other facilities in the resort are great with kids - good pool, own lake for kayaking, beach directly across the road etc

There is a restaurant at Twin Waters called the Loose Goose which is 2 min walk away, but it's not that flash on service and can be a bit pricey - food is good though.

5 min walk further down is Mudjimba with a GREAT coffee place called the Loaded Lizard - FAB breakfast and the best coffee, there is also a small bakery but that's all within walking distance.

You can still drive to most places from Twin Waters. 10 mins to Mooloolaba, 10 mins to Coolum Beach

Suggest Cotton Tree is a better option or possibly somewhere around Alex Headlands. You are central to everything on the coast there and Noosa is still only 25 min drive away to visit the restaurants etc. More options being central with kids. Noosa is lovely but better probably for couples I think.
