Any Tips re Noosa???

Hi All

Me and my wife will be staying 7 days in Noosa in February at the sebel resort.

We are hiring a car for 5 days and would like to know if we should be visiting any attractions around the area as we are both first timers and are not sure where to go!!!!!

Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we are both quite active and would like to maximise our time whilst there.

Cheers Auslad

Lots to see and do in the area.

Visit nearby country towns Eumundi ( markets on Wednesday and Saturdays) Cooroy, Pomona.

Visit Blackall Range, towns such as Mapletong, Montville ( arts and craft village) Maleny, Australia Zoo and Underwater World at Mooloolaba.

Noosa is a beautiful part of the world with sensational beaches, rainforest walks and restaurants along the main street.

Nearby Mooloolaba has excellent restaurants, surf clubs and night clubs. Be sure to check out the Mooloolaba wharf area for interesting tourist shops, Fridays Restaurant/Bar/Nightclub and of course "Underwater World".

Of course Australia Zoo is a must and is situated in Beerwah. There are however, free shuttle buses run by the Zoo which will pick you up from Noosa.

Also of interest nearby are the Eumundi Weekend Markets (Also on Wednesday), The Big Pineapple, The Honey Bee, Hedge Maze and the Ettamogah Pub/Aussie World.

For a great day out, be sure to head for a lovely drive into the hinterland of Beerwah, Peachester, Landsborough, Maleny and Montville. There are fantastic shops, cheese factories, candy making, coffee shops and antiquey places! You will be sure to enjoy a leisurely stroll down the main street of Montville & Maleny.

There is a nice seafood restaurant overlooking the mountain range near Maleny and a sensational look-out (Mary Cairncross Park). The pub Penny-Farthings at Montville has numerous european beers all on tap and a challenge for others is to have a pint of each one!

Have a good trip.

Keep your eye out for local entertainment at The J in Noosa Junction and Joes Waterhole next to Eumundi markets..... as you must surely tire of the plastic touro traps and some gems bob here.

We stayed at the Sebel Noosa for our Honeymoon in 2002, and we loved it - great resort in the heart of Noosa.

We went to the Markets mentioned before and we also went to the big pineapple, Australia Zoo and the glass house mountains

We also went for a walk around Noosa national Park - very nice, but take plenty of Water to drink as it will be hot in Feb!

We also went to the Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore - it's a massive shopping centre and you'll need a good few hours there!

Also we did an evening cruise on the Noosa river around all the waterways, and the boat driver was telling us all the celebrities who own houses there.

We are going to the Sunshine coast in March, but unfortunately our budget won't extent to the Sebel in Noosa!

You'll love it in Noosa / Sunshine coast - that's why we are going back!

I agree totally with Lizzy about Humid Restaurant. We go to Noosa a lot and ALWAYS go to Humid for dinner. You might need to book a few weeks ahead though. When they are in peak holiday season they have two sittings. Recommend the wasabi prawns, s & p squid and the duck is to die for. Mary will look after you.

There are a few ways to enjoy the Noosa River. You can do the normal river cruise, or a jazz cruise, or a sunset champagne cruise. There is also a public ferry that leaves from the Sheraton wharf near the Sebel and travels up to Tewantin with a few stops along the way. There are a few good restaurants at the wharf at Tewantin. The ferry also stops at Noosa Sound Wharf - great restaurants there too. Recommend Rickys and Rock Salt. Then you can catch ferry back and you don't have to worry about the dreaded RBT.

You can also do an Everglades cruise tour. I did it two years ago with my elderly mum. It was okay but possibly a little boring. You cruise through very quiet everglades - only thing to see is trees and a bit of birdlife. You then have a quick snack break at the end and then cruise back.

Also the Noosa Yacht Club has a great restaurant, booze prices are very reasonable. It is also great just for a few drinks watching the sun set. Their restaurant has open walls and the river breezes are beautiful. It is very special watching all the passing river activity. It is on the main road through Noosaville.

Hope this helps. Noosa is my favourite place and I spent a lot of time there.
