Looking for beachfront hotel suggestions...

Coming over from the US...will be in Sydney for a week ( have been there before), then heading to the Noosa area for a week. Looking for a five-star hotel on a calm, quiet beach. Does this exist in this area? Do not want the busy crowded beaches with big surf. Open to all suggestions, as this is completely foreign territory for me. For comparison purposes...Turks and Caicos island in the Caribbean & Anguilla in the British West Indies are two of our favorites. Thanks!

Noosa itself has the one beach .. Noosa main beach. Its main claim to fame as a beach is that it faces North, one of the few beaches on the East Coast to do so. Prevailing wind in this part of the world is S.E. so it is in the lee most of the time and consequently not much surf. However this also makes it very popular and at times busy. Most accommodation in Sunshine Coast area is self contained apartment style rather than full service hotel. Noosa has a Sheriton Hotel although it is not beach front, it is on the other side of the road. Some of the beachfront apartments are of a very high standard and would surpass many 5star hotels.

Although not on the beach but across the road from it is the Sheraton Hotel in Noosa which is a lovely 5 * hotel.

Noosa's Main Beach is one of the few beaches along Australia's coastline that faces north. It has moderate waves and is safe for swimming all year

As mentioned Noosa also has luxury apartments & houses which are very exclusive if they suit your budget.

As mentioned Noosa is a relatively sheltered beach as it faces north and does not get the easterly swells. Unfortunately it is a very popular coastal resort and holiday destination. If the gods are in favour, it can get some of the best waves around.

Main Beach is where everyone swarms to, behind the beach is the main street where there are many holiday appartments and the Sheraton hotel. Beachfront properties are the pick and of course the most expensive. Hotels are few in Noosa, resorts and self catering is most popular however there are many restaraunts around. If you love seafood buffets, go no further than Cato's at the Sheraton. You may also like to goggle the Sebel and Outrigger for accomodation.

Nearby you have Noosa river locations and places like Sunshine Beach which also have plenty of accomodation available. So there are other resorts a little further away from the main area of Noosa, really depends what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Have a look at Little Cove Court. It is directly opposite Little Cove beach which is a lovely quiet beach in Noosa. You have the peace and serenity of a cosy beach amidst the national park and you are also only a boardwalk away from Noosa main strip with all its glorious restaurants.

I viewed apartment 6 whilst in Noosa a few weeks ago and I was very impressed; the only downside is that they do not take children under 12 because of the wonderful art collection. All the other apartments in the complex can accommodate children.
