umbrellas in Agueda

Hallo!

I saw some great photos of an umbrella installation in Agueda last year. Was it a one-time installation or is it possible to see it this June?

If it is 'on', please help me find the way to get to Agueda by public transport (bus or train). I found connection to Porto, but there's only one a day... We would come from Porto, but would like to head south afterwards, preferably the same day.

Thank you for your help!

:)

I don't know about umbrellas in Agueda unfortunately, but I can tell you how to get there

Agueda is on the narrow gauge railway line that runs from Espinho to Aveiro round through the hills.

Here's the timetable

cp.pt/StaticFiles/…aveiro_espinho.pdf

You can take the frequent 'Urbanos' local trains from Porto to Aveiro, then it's a short walk from the main station to the narrow gauge station. The line to Agueda is operated by CP. it has been under threat of closure for years and will surely go soon.

You can then return the same way to Aveiro and then take a train south towards Coimbra and Lisbon.

Or, if you want to experience the whole line, get to Espinho in time for the 0926 train to Sernada da Vouga. There you will wait a little over an hour for the train onwards to Agueda.

Local train times Porto - Espinho . Aveiro (there are faster but much more expensive intercity trains as well)

I hope that helps.

You can take the train from Óbidos to Coimbra (switch in Caldas da Rainha). In Coimbra there's a Transdev bus to Agueda.
