Weather,restaurant advice please

I'm travelling to almancil on thursday. Never been to Portugal before. We're staying in a villa with family & kids so would be looking for some great lunchtime restaurants rather than evening, for some lovely long lunches with good food....any recommendations?

Am currently in a very hot & humid Malta mid 30's. Temperature for portugal is showing mid 20's but appears cooler at night, anyone familiar with this time of year,is it still cooler in the evenings? (trying to pack lightly but with the right things!)

Finally anyone know the name of a big supermarket in/near Almancil so we can stock up on our 1st day as we are arriving lateish the night before...

Thank you in advance, looking forward to our help!

It's been a little cloudy with a few light showers lately. Daytimes we have seen 25C when the sun breaks through, down to 15 or 16 at night. The local forecast suggests it will a little warmer later this week and will stay dry.

Sorry can't help with restaurants in that area.

For a large supermarket I suggest the Jumbo hypermarket at the Forum Algarve, just outside Faro - I am assuming you will have a car. It's slightly off your route but the best bet in my opinion.

Forum Algarve also has a fast food court if anyone's starving.

When you leave the airport, follow the signs for FARO centro. From the airport you will go for about 1.5km along a dual carriageway then turn right towards Faro. You will see the Forum Algarve on the left hand side about 1km on the road towards Faro. Go past it and round the roundabout for the parking area.

When you come out, go back the way you came ie towards the airport but stay on that road (the N125) and it's about 13km to Almancil.

Hope that helps.

Apolonia is the new large supermarket in Almancil. Its sign posted around the town. Restaurants?? If you head down to Julia's Beach (in between Vale do Lobo and Quinta Do Lago beaches) on a Sunday there are about 5/6 places overlooking the beach which are great for lunch. Izzy's and Julias usually have live music on from around 2/3pm. Also at Vale Do Lobo there are quite a few restaurants in the 'Praca', an area above the beach. Quinta Do Lago has a square called Quinta Shopping there are some restaurants there also. Most of the other restaurants in the area are dotted around roads between Almancil and the road linking Quinta and Vale do Lobo. Try to pick up the 'Freemaps' leaflet when you get over there, they all advertise and the locations are on the map. Hope that helps you.
