We have stayed at the Elba in Calete de Fuste twice now - the kids (6 & 12) wanted to go back the second time as enjoyed the first so much !
The Elba in my opinion provides spotlessly clean, modern and spacious apartments - we had no problems with the maids not changing the sheets or towels every other day. There are basic cooking facilities with a fridge, 2 ring hob and microwave. They provide kettles, pans, plates etc but take a tea cloth as sometimes there is one there and sometimes not!! When we asked for extra pillows and blanket - a maid was sent within a couple of hours for us although the main reception is often empty of staff.
There are several pools and they and the surrounding areas are spotless and constantly monitored by staff taking samples of water throughout the day. I couldnt fault either the apartment or the pools.
Outside the hotel on the rocks there are tame chipmunks and they will come up and take nuts from your hand which children (and adults) love.
There is a diving spot off the rocks which all the locals in the day dive from in spectacular displays. My husband couldnt resist (being an ex-diving champion from Hayes) but be warned the current is strong trying to get back on to the rocks.
There was a kids club and they have entertainment starting early (the kids entertainers were great and had them all up doing the movements and dances). The adult entertainment provided at the hotel (Abba tribute bands and magicians) were OK to a degree but we prefered walking into the town by the time the kids entertainer had finished for a bite to eat outside of the hotel.
There is a fabulous steak house (I think by memory called fraggle rock) that does terrific sizzling steak on the stone - you cant miss it - the steak house is always heaving and you do need to get there by about half 8 or will need to queue. There are some good restaurants as well (opposite the steak house under cover - down the stairs) including an Italian, good old fashioned english one where they provide live music and we often went there for the night out as the singers were a class of their own.
Strolling back at night - the kids loved the open shops like Crazy Corner to buy trinkets, dream catchers and getting their photos done and stalls on the side walk who offer hair braiding and henna tattoos finished off with bungie jumping and trampolines on the way home.
The resort has plenty going on for families with a nice safe beach - (Although it can get windy - hence the nick name the windy islands) and may need to take cover from the sand. Because its windy on the beach - be careful as you dont notice that you are burning!
We enjoyed the sealion show although the 6 year old wasnt impressed with the submarine ride as she couldnt see anything !
Howwver they offer lots of watersports and boat rides at the beach.
We had a great holiday there - perfect for people wanting a quieter or family holiday and would thoroughly recommend the hotel and resort. We would definetely go back there again !
