Diving in Rincon

My husband and I are traveling to Puerto Rico in late October, staying one night in Old San Juan and traveling to Rincon for the weekend. I have heard that the surfing is great, but what about diving and snorkeling?

Also, I am hoping for a laid back weekend. From what I have read it sounds like Rincon is what we are looking for (thinking about staying at Casa Islena). I'm really just looking for confirmation that I am not going end up in an ultra-touristy area with a Burger King on every corner.

Thanks!

The Diving is great in Rincon, we highly recommend Taino Divers, who make a daily trip to Desecheo Island for an excellent Dive, be sure to check with them as in October many businesses close to take some much needed time off to revamp for season, it is also the height of Hurricane Season. Rincon is a lovely quaint area, it really is a quiet little beach town, but like every other town in PR there are some fast food joints, what you won't find are high rise hotels, condo's and casino's and high end shopping of San Juan. Where you stay can make all the difference, Casa Islena is a lovely ocean front Inn with a great location, and serves excellent Tapas at their restaurant open for the weekends only. You will also find a great fusion of local food at the lazy Parrot, Calypso Bar, and Villa Confressi for fresh local visit, all which will be open during your visit.
