Afternoon trip

Hey there.

My wife is an avid diver. I don't enjoy it. We will be in Rincon for three days in April. She's going with Taino Divers from 8am - 2pm on a dive trip. That leaves me some time to explore on my own places we wouldn't be getting to. My question - what is the most culturally significant site within about 45 minutes of Rincon. Exceptions are San German and the Camuy Caves, which we are going to the day we leave Rincon. My thoughts thus far have been Mayaguez, Isabela, and Aguadilla. All else fails, I can always throw some money away at the casino. Any ideas?

Appreciate the help!

Culturally significant site? I'd say be sure and stop at Caguana to see the Taino site on you way to Rio Camuy caves. It doesn't take long but we found it very atmospheric. The place seems to keep very irregular house so you might want to call ahead. See more at http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/prvi/pr25.htm

On your free day I'd head for Cabo Rojo, stop at the lighthouse and check out the salt flats and nearby beach. There's also a wildlife refuge but in the middle of the day it can be brutal. See more athttp://www.caborojopr.com/cabo-rojo-puerto-rico-attractions.html Neither Isabella nor Aguadilla had much to interst me other than some good restaurants and gorgeous beaches. How about a horseback ride on a beautiful beach near Isabella. Maybe not cultural but a fun adventure. Contact Tropical Trail Rides for reservations.

The Taino site sounds good - I was not aware of this. We were thinking about stopping at Tibes while in Ponce, but I think I will add this to our Caves/Lares Ice Cream/San German day. Won't be something for my free afternoon, but a great add - thanks so much.

Horseback riding is not really my thing. I did think about a short lighthouse tour around the west side of the island. But the one in Arecibo looks so touristy!

I am really looking for something non-beachy. We have a ton of time on the beach already and I tend to get bored and like to explore.
