Ronda to Granada by car

Hi to alll the experts Hubbie and Benny especially. Got a question for you, we want to drive from Ronda to Granada, we found that there are three different ways. Which is better? we have a day to stay in the middle of the journey. Where would we find a nice interesting town to spend the night.

Shall we go down via Marbella/Malaga/Antequera or Marbella/Malaga?Salobrena or Ronda/Antequera/Malaga. Thanks you for all your advise we already have our plan worked out only a few details still to decide. TA and all you guys are wonderful. Sincerely Malu

I would go Marbella - Malaga - Salobrena - Granada and stay in Nerja on the coast.

Malu:

The drive from Ronda to Grazalema is one of the most beautiful drives in Spain.

Iuyma, there is alwas many roads between point A and point B, you have the fast way or you have the injoyable lets kick back way. I alwas go the latter, lets see as much as we can way. We have been known to go 20 miles out of our way for breakfast just because we have never been there. I went all the way up to Carmona out of Seville just for breakfast one time, it was great, the food was out of this world and l saw a town that l had not seen sense the 60s. No way is better, each one will show you something different. Cadiz_Lover wants you to go the South-east route along the ocean, which l think would be a prettier route than the North-east way. You can stop in any of those coastal towns and spend the night. Nerja is a nice little town we were at just two years ago during the fair, fun, fun, and more fun. Drive along the coast untill you see a cute little town you just have to see, that would be my choice. Good luck and have fun. Don't forget to get your tickets for the Alhambra before you go, sometimes very hard to get into. Hubie

Hubie, Benny and Cadiz lover thanks for all the information it is because of your comments that we decided to rent a car for seven days and travel aroung Arcos de la Frontera, Ronda etc. Now your are right about the way to Granada, it was our feeling to go by the coastal way, but were worried about the time, ssince we have to return the car in Granada before 12:00, but I have checked the time schedule and we think it it best to stay in Salobrena, closer to Granada. Thank you and be safe. Already have tickets for the Alhambra Sincerely Malu

Cuthbert- you have a point. There are tolls amounting to €8.75 currently paid on the Motorway running between Marbella and Malaga.

Two toll stations as follows:

San Pedro: Toll: € 2.45

Calahonda: Toll: € 6.30

The route down from Ronda to the coast at San Pedro is quite scenic as you are facing the Mediterranean and can see Gibraltar in the distance on a good day.

However another perfectly good way and cutting out the Toll road to Malaga is to take the A-367 road of of Ronda (this is the way the Los Amarillos bus goes to Malaga) then you meet the A-357 road down the Guadalhorce valley past Ardales and then route around Malaga for Nerja etc.

By the way, the drive from Nerja to Granada is not more than 1 1/2 hours maximum.
