We are Australians holidaying in Austria planning to take a day trip to Cesky Krumlov...do we need a visa to enter the CR ??

No, Australians don't need a visa if they intend to stay in the Schengen area for less than 90 days in any 6 months period.

But bring your passport with you when visiting Czech Republic.
