I am going to be staying for one night at the beginning of April with my son and cousin. I would prefer a nice pension to a hotel. Something a little more hospitable. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
You should check out Castle View Apartments at http://www.castleview.cz
My sister and I traveled to Cesky Krumlov last month and fell in love with it! Our Rick Steves' guide book listed a local English School teacher, Jiri Vaclavicek, as a potential guide. We hired Jiri for a great hour and a half tour of the town and then he showed us the Castle View apartments where he works on the weekends. We could've had a beautiful two bedroom apartment there for the same price as our no-frills hotel room!! This place is a bargin.
Hope you have a great time. I can't wait to return to Cesky Krumlov with my kids.
We just returned from the Czech Republic last week and stayed at a VERY reasonable, very clean pension. Pension Danny (info on this site)is in a good location, has rooms with private bathrooms and the owners were really kind. We had an early morning bus departure, so they packed us sandwiches, fruit, cookies, etc. They also helped me with bus & train information, once I had booked a room.
You will LOVE Cesky Krumlov! Be sure to take a walking tour - book at the tourist centre.
Also, if you are taking the bus, book a reserved seat ($1-2 more)as the busses get crowded at certain times. Go right to the front of the line at least 5-10 mins. before the bus departs.
We will be there the end of April and are considering Guest House Lida and Pension Mysa Dori. Check Rick Steeves update on his Prague and Czech Republic book for sites and e-mail numbers. They both sound wonderful and having booked through Steeves books before, will do so again.
My notes were incorrect. Guest House Lida is in Prague. Sorry for any inconvenience.
