One night in Prague

I find I have half a day and one whole night free during an upcoming business trip to Prague, staying near the Old Town Square...

Haven't much time to research the trip so any helpful suggestions re "must sees", somewhere decent and reasonable priced to eat and any advice on what to definitely avoid would be greatly appreciated please!

Please note, I don't drink alcohol at all and even if I did I'd be reluctant to go an the razz on my own!

Perhaps a free Walking Tour - but check if the starting time would suit you --- at the time when you are free..

In front of Starbucks Coffee; newpraguetours.com/daily-tours/new-prague-fr…

Old Town Square Pick-Up Point at 10:30 AM & 1:45 PM

for inexpensive meal & drink + nice walk towards the river

Atmosphere Cafe & Pub - google translate

http://www.atmoska.cz/

You could also stop at O'Che's & Sklep (Jazz, blues) on the way back? On Liliova

It is in English also, but some details RE: Program not always translated...

http://www.bluessklep.cz/

http://www.oches.com/ They have non-alc. drinks too, sometimes live music, otherwise major sporting channels on TV; not true Irish Pub, you would have to go to Dubliner (the choice is yours, some people like to go to places similar to their home./ others avoid it.) In any case, both U Knihovny & Atmoska have typical Czech meals...ask for Kofola (Kind of Cz coke...)

Or going the other way, towards Staromestka/Josefov, U Knihovny is a good inexpensive restaurant

http://www.uknihovny.cz/ (downstairs is better, IMO)

Mr. Arsenal (great win today) your Prague business colleagues will undoubtedly take you out,so I would not worry as to what to do.:)

Tily - that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I want to duck out of a drinks reception early and do my own thing!

Pity it's such a short trip as I fly out again Tuesday afternoon so I hope to grab a coupe of hours to myself Monday evening!

Otherwise the entire trip will be a 24 hour work shift because socializing with clients is still work to me, especially since i don't drink and they will slowly (or rapidly as the case may be!) get sozzled!

I normally make an exit when people start repeating themselves with alcohol and by that time no one ever notices I have left!

Thanks for the info Sophie - I am travelling a very short notice so I dont have time to do this research myself!

Finally, yes Tilly - excellent win for Arsenal! It is so sad that RVP gort injured on international duty with Holland and couldn't play for his new club Manchester United yesterday :-(

Dekuji vám

Bless, who needs him:)

The Czechs are known for their hospitality, so I bet they've already planned a jolly for you...would be difficult to get out of it without offending.....anyway, good luck!

Is fast-food appropriate for you? If not, search cafes not in the middle of the city center
