Is it okay to stay at Prague 8 ?

Hi,

We'll be in Prague over the new year's eve and managed to find an apt , but it is in Prague 8. The apt states that it is 200m from 4-star Hotel Olympik and 300m through paths with grass and trees to Metro stop. Is this a safe and convenient area to stay in ? Or should we stay at Prague 1 or Mala Strana instead ? Thanks

It seems that your appartment is in the block of flats around Invalidovna metro stop. This area is residental, not very nice (block of flats), but on the other hand it is close to the city centre - 3 metro stops to Naměstí republiky, 4 stops to Mustek, you can also use tram - 10 minutes to the city center. Because it is not exactly in the Old Town or Mala Strana, the price for an appartment should be budget-wise. It should be quite save there. Big groups of tourist living in Olympic hotel move around.

Hi,

Thanks !

For the same price, around 100euros, i either stay there - a 2bed room apt, or a 4-bedded ensuite room with kitchen at hostel rosemary. which would you choose ? We are 2 adults and 2 children.

Or ibis hotel ? We are considering these 3 places.

I personaly would choose appartment then hotel room with children.

1/ apt. prague 8

+ spacious, own kitchen, privacy

- you have to travel to the city centre

2/ hostel Rosemary

+ own kitchen, central location

3/ Ibis Mala Strana

+ central location

- no kitchen, not enough space

Dear all,

Thanks ! unfortunately, i;m travelling during TOP season (which i didnt know beore hand, else i would have shifted my dates), and aparthotel Angel also charges 179 euro a night.

I have read the hostel rosemary reivews and they are all pretty pleasant. For the apartment, i was a little concerned as one of the reivew of Olmypik hotel (which is near) commented the area was not too pleasant and full of drunks and druggies..

still deciding..

Thanks again !
