Hlavni Nadrazi tram stop

Hello - we wish to take Tram 9 from Hlavni Nadrazi stop to Svandovo Divadlo stop. I couldn't find any crossing lights on Wilsonova close to the train station. When we exit the train, how do we get across Wilsonova to Bolzanova at the northern end of the train station to take the tram? Thank you for your help.

Wilsonova Street (the "magistrala") goes over the train station vestibule, so when you get off the train, go down to the lower level where all of the shops are and just keep walking out. You will go by the escalators that lead down to the metro. Once you leave through the front doors, you are already on the other side of Wilsonova. You exit into a park. Head right across the park (don't miss the momument of the Soviet soldier - great retro art) and at the first street you will find the tram stop.

Jeff gives perfect directions ,it only takes a few minutes,DO NOT try and cross Wilsonova it is a crazy busy place, but if you are coming by train you will not even see that street.,from the station exit to the tram is less than 200 yards.Make sure you buy a ticket BEFORE you get on the tram ,you can buy them at the stall beside the metro steps that Jeff mentions or at the Relay shop just near there.

If you aren't in too much of a rush, it is worth checking out the upper level of the station (on the same side of Wilsonova and the same level as the trains come in). The lower level has been completely reconstructed, but the upper level is still quite dilapidated. But the architecture is beautiful. It is an amazing contrast to the lower level.

Oh, and don't forget not only to buy your tickets before getting on the tram but to stamp them once onboard. They are not valid unless stamped.

Thank you all so much for the great information. You really helped clarify the directions to the tram stop. And thanks again too for the reminder to have tram ticket in hand to be stamped on the tram so as to avoid any transportation police problems.

Important: If you have a large/regular sized suitcase, you must buy a half-price ticket for it, also.

You are apt to be fined the inspectors, if they see you on board with a suitcase.

Thank you for your response. We are in our mid 60s and can do some walking but not a lot and plan to use the trams when possible. We want to buy the day ticket 24 hr for 110 czk each and hope this would cover the suitcases. Please advise if this is incorrect.

standard pieces of luggage are included in your ticket...

only if you have excessive or oversized luggage do you need an additional ticket.

FYI, as you leave the train staion and reach the edge of the park ..you will in essence be facing the platform for tram 9 ....you will use the 2nd track in which the tram will be traveling from right to left.

It looks like 8 stops to your destination

enjoy your visit

Hi Jeff. I was wondering the same thing, as I was advised by some kind TA people to take Tram 5 to Hotel Trinidad. I am trying to to blend this info with the the directions given the following website:

http://www.livingprague.com/stations.htm

So, may I further ask for clarification, is the level where we exit the station for the tram station called the Main Concourse/Ground Floor or the Lower Concourse?

It is pretty obvious, iIt is the main concorse and the doors are there ,on the other levels there are no doors. so head out the main doors turn right and you will find the stop easy enough.
