First time in Prague early September

Hey guys,

My friend and I will be arriving in Prague early September. Our itinerary is split in half because we are also traveling to Croatia for the part of our trip.

Sunday Sept 1: Arriving at 3:40 pm in Prague

Monday Sept 2: All day in Prague

Tuesday Sept 3: Fly to Croatia at 8 am

Thursday Sept 12: Arrive back at Prague from Croatia at 11 am

Friday Sept 13: In Prague

Saturday Sept 14: In Prague

Sunday Sept 15: Flight back to USA at 11 pm.

I believe that we will have approximately 5 days in Prague. How many days would I need for Prague? My friend and I are in the mid 20s. We both like historical setting, architecture, bar scene, and learning about the local culture. We are thinking about staying at hostels. Where would you guys recommend? Also, is the itinerary long enough to do a day trip? Thanks for any help!

i think you will get a good flavour of Prague during your 4,5 days stay. I would spend at least 2 days just walking around. You could combine that with some guide tour.

A day trip why not, popular ones are Kutna Hora or a bit further is Cesky Krumlov, both have Unesco protection. Or you may prefer to do a shorter trip to a castle near Prague, Karlstejn for example.

sorry, don't know too much about hostels

hostels vary from backpacker style to nicer/trendier places

one end for ex

Elf Hostel, Travelers Hostel, Clown and Bard

other end

Czech Inn, Miss Sophie's

middle of the road..not sure of rates

David's Apartments

http://www.davids.cz/en/

for your last two nights you could stay nearer the airport at the DAP hotel..end of the green metro line..just four stops into the center....the area has a handful of good restaurants/pubs..the hotel has a great weekend rate... webpage indicates weekend special- 2 people, 2nights 1500kc..total $75..just about $20/night pp..includes breakfast bar

you can leave your belongings there on Sunday with the receptionist and still explore the city and retrieve your things and catch the bus to the airport from there
