Visit to Prague and Budapest in Mid March

I am looking at options to visit Prague, Budapest and Salzburg in mid March, else in May. Knowing that the recommended months are May to Aug to travel to these places, would March be recommended - and what would be the drawbacks/pluses if any.

the only drawback would be if the cold or snowy weather occurs.....so far it has been a mild winter.

the biggest plus-places are not so crowded as in the summer months

on the other hand, snowy weather can be nice in the moutains around Salzburg
