there is always public transportation but it will involve several changes

do you have some budget?

check out Fusion hotel it is closer to the center

are hostels a possibility?

We are traveling with kids and would prefer to have two separate rooms, so I think that hostel is not an option.

Happy memories guest house is located at Lysolajske udoli, will it be convenient to go to the Old Town from there by a public transportation, or is it too far?

From Lysolajské údolí to Old Town, it's 30 - 45 minutes by public transport. Take bus number 355 or 160 from the bus stop "Žákovská" to the bus stop "Dejvická". Then you take the subway to the station "Staroměstká". Then you have to walk to the Old Town.

or you can get a bus from the same stop to Podbaba and take a tram to the centre
