Vegetarian food options.... Thx..

Hi

Ref our upcoming trip to Prague, can we have suggestions for restaurants serving vegetarian food ? Egg is fine. We are staying in Old Towne at Hotel Maximilian.

We are from India - so we will probably end up going to some of the Indian restaurants as well. But would love to try out other vegetarian cuisine. I have already ticked Matylda Boat Restaurant - their menu seems to be having a good choice of food to our tastes - italian.

Thx !

If you get homesick, try the veggie Indian food from one of the informal restaurant/takeaways in this small chain -

Hi I have recently visited Prague and I am also a vegetarian. If you like Italian food then there is no problem at all. There are numerous Italian restaurants serving a wide variety of vegetarian Pastas and Pizza. We also tried this Indian restaurant in Old Town by the name of Indian Jewel which was quite good.

Definition of Vegetarian is different in different part of world. south east Asia consider fish and other sea food as vegetarian. In India Milk, Milk product & fruits and vegetables are considered as Vegetarian.

We understand that in Czech & other European countries milk and milk product have added bone powder and also Breads have egg and animal fat like beef tallow. please guide in this regards. how to know that which products are having animal fat/ eggs/bone powders etc

my understanding is that in general we differentiate between Vegan and Vegetarian.

Vegeterian is not very strict and basically refers to non-meat but milk and cheese is ok.

Some vegetarians include some fish and even white meat in their diet.

Vegan is no product from the animal kingdom and is is a fair bit harder to obtain specially in Prague but not impossible.

Czech idea of vegetarian traditionally means NO MEAT but doe s not necessarily mean eating vegetables.

here is a link and there are some vegan options there
