Easter weekend in Brno?

In particular, Saturday April 7th. Would you expect Easter closures on this day, or should it be a normal Saturday? Thanks.

1. Re: Easter weekend in Brno?

A normal Saturday is quiet anyway as many people get out out the city and go to their cottages, cycle rides in the country, skiing, etc, and many shops are closed as a matter of course. This is the same all over central Europe outside the main tourist areas - try finding something that is open in Austria (even Vienna) on a weekend, for example - you'll be very lucky.

At Easter more people will be away than usual. Pubs and restaurants will be open, though, and it is nice when it is quiet, especially if the weather is nice - impossible to say what the weather will be like at Easter as it can be either freezing cold, or pleasantly warm.

You might want to read up about Easter traditions myczechrepublic.com/czech_culture/… - if you go to some South Moravian villages you might run into some local festivals which can be colourful, and are a bit of an eyeopener :)
