Wierzynek Restaurant

We would like to have one special meal while in Krakow next week and taste some local food. I have been thinking of booking the Wierzynek Restaurant for next friday night.

Would this be a good choice or is there a better restaurant that offers a similar menu and prices

Thanks

Not sure what are your expectations. If you look for very good food, but don't need the extras (place, service), there are different places with Polish food. I don't say the service there is bad, in my opinion the one in Wierzynek is simply pompous.

I would try Pod Aniołami

Try the inyourpocket.com website guide for Krakow restaurants. There are many that you can get to their websites and menus via inyourpocket. Regarding Wierzynek, with all the times I have been to Krakow I have never eaten there, the reason is because everytime I look at their menu there is nothing overly appetizing to me. I truly would like to try it sometime when I see some items on the menu that appeals to me. I have eaten at the Pod Baranem at had an excellent meal there and it had many items on the menu that I could have chosen.

Wiezynek is an experience - ok there may be better food available but where else do you get shown to your table by a princess and can say you have eaten in the same restaurant as the King of Spain Juan Carlos, Emperor of Japan Akihito, President of the United States George H. W. Bush, Presidents of France: Charles de Gaulle and Francois Mitterand, .Steven Spielberg, Peter Greenaway, Sophie Marceau, Kate Moss, Robert De Niro and Clive Cussler?

Besides from time to time in this fast food world a little pomposity makes a nice change.

If you decide to dine somewhere besides the Wierzynek, at least go there later for a dessert!

The dishes, which serves Wierzynek are good, but small and expensive!

But you can taste a really polish food, when you come to Jama Michalika every Wensday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday on special event called Polish Folk Show :-D

HAWEŁKA restaurant used to be a fantastic place. Haven't seen it mentioned. Is it still good, gone off the boil or maybe disappeared. Was on / near the corner of the sqaure opposite the church tower.
