Train from Warsaw to Krakow, then to Budapest

We will be in Poland in early September. I have picked out good hotels, interesting things to see, and even where to get good pierogies. We have rented cars in Western Europe and driven between many cities and countries. This time we have decided to take the trains. I am totally out of my comfort zone in doing this. We will need to book a train from Warsaw to Krakow, then from Krakow to Budapest. I have tried to look at various train sites, and am just more confused.A few years ago we took the train all over Japan, but just for day trips. Any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Tickets within Poland:

For Kraków to Budapest contact Polrail if you want to buy in advance. PKP Intercity does not sell them online.

If you use the search box, it will you show you lots of threads about train travel in Poland and from Poland to Budapest.
