Lake Bled in mid-June - swimming area away from crowd

Hi,

I'll be in Lake Bled in mid-June and was looking for a quiet area swimming away from Grajsko kopališče. Is the water not warm enough for a crowd?

I'm use to swimming in 20-21 C water temperature, but hope the water will be warmer.

In midJune are not so many tourist in Bled. Water is not yet warm, can be colder as you expect! For a weekend if nice weather is crowded in Zaka, Mlino, rowing centre! May be more individual at Toplice hotel. On work days is no where crowded!

Thank you for the response.

Can you swim in any area that is secluded or it has to be a designated place?

Formal swimming is permitted only in certain places. Grajsko kopališče and Toplice area are with an entrance fee and the rest is free entrance tickets. Municipal police officers are tolerant to swimmers in other places. Until now!

How much is the fine? Do you get a warning / "slap on the wrist" first?

Municipal police officers are tolerant to swimmers in other places, they dont punish! In centre, below the kavarna Park nobody swimm, except swans, ducks... If you want to be there, you'll be a black swan!

You might also think about hopping on the bus to Lake Bohinj. I suspect there will be very few people swimming at that time but you can always find somewhere secluded anyway by following the path through the trees on the north side of the lake. Most popular place for swimming is the near end of the lake, coming from Bled (Ribcev Laz). From the bus stop just cross the stone bridge and follow the path. Views are stunning. There's also a large swimming area at the far end of the lake (Zlatatorog/Ukanc) but the water always seems a good bit colder there as that's where most of the water flows in off the mountains. As SiEagle says its going to be pretty cold so you might be best just picking the sunniest spot.

Direct buses from Bled that cover both ends of the lake. Takes about 40 mins to Ribcev Laz.
