Budapest-Ljubljana drive toward Lake balaton M7 highway, exit at Siofok a few kilometres south take ferry accross to Tihany most scenic location I like in Hungary.continue south through Badacsony wine region, Hevit Thermal Lake, into Slovenia, with Maribor European cultural capital 2012, Ptuj beautiful old world heritage town, Ljubljana. If you have time come back via Bled, fantastic scenery, up to Villach Austria then Worther See Klagenfurt, Graz and Vienna.
Dont know how many days you have so a bit more info on your plans could help with suggestions on where to sleep, eat, visit etc!!!Edited: 02 June 2012, 07:43
1. Exit at Siofok and take ferry to Tihany. OK. After that continue on which road to Maribor ?
2. I like your suggestion Ljubljana-Bled-Villach-Klugenfurt-Graz-Vienna (will keep it for 3rd day)
3. So we have half of 1st day and whole of 2nd day at Lubjljana (place to stay not yet booked) What do you suggest ?
4. Heard about Most Na Soci Car Train, Kobarid etc.
From Tihany route 71 down south about 30 kms is Badacsony, fantastic views from the hillsi and wineries towars the lake, can recomend also a stop at the 13 th century castle ruins in Szigliget right 5 minutes further south. From Heviz its road to Slovenia no 76 town of Letenye about 60 minutes, its the border,i then buy your sticker for Slovenia highway to Maribor 45 minutes away. Ljubljana for a hotel suggestion need an idea of your budget, how many people, etc..forget the car train!! distances are way short enough to drive especialy with 130kmh speed limits on highways here!Edited: 02 June 2012, 09:13
