Traveling from Ljubljana, Slovenia to Milan, Italy

I am looking for the best, inexpensive option for traveling from Ljubljana, Slovenia to Milan, Italy. I have already looked into flights and they are pretty expensive. Is there a bus or train?

Consider also flying from Trieste.

GoOpti offers a shuttle transfer to most Milan airports.

Unfortunately there are no train connections between Slovenia and Italy.

Thank you for the information. I read there was a train from Ljubljana to right outside of Venice. Is that not correct? Also, I am not looking to fly. I will be in Slovenia for a week and then want to make my way to Italy.

No direct train from Slovenia to Italy for a while now - problem are Italians. You could take a train from Ljubljana to Koper and then take a taxi/bus to nearby Trieste/Trst and take a train to Milano. You may also get a reasonable priced flight from Trieste to Milano - look it up.
