Can anyone recommend a B&B/Pension in the city center? It does not need to be fancy; just clean with an an-suite bathroom. We would like to keep the cost under $100./night.

Thanks in advance,

Go to www.taverna.hu. That hotel group owns City Panzio Pilvax and City Panzio Ring which are both pensions located in Central Pest. The former is just a few minutes by foot from the hubbub of central Pest and the latter a 10-minute walk from the Danube embankment and Margaret Island, the city's lovliest park.

It's located right in the centre of town and seems well equipped. I am travelling this weekend so shall give a full review afterwards, so keep a lookout.

How was your stay in the apartment you booked? I've contacted the owner and it seems like it should be a good place to stay, but I wanted to know what your opinion was before confirming. What did you end up paying per night?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I spent more than a week in B&B Hotel in the suburb (but about 10 minutes from the city by suburb train). Try to look at www.bbhotel.hu or …blogspot.com/2007/11/budapest-sleep-b-hotel…

Have a look at the Fortuna Boat Hotel. It is a boat moored on the River Danube and is very pleasant. It is right in the city centre on the Pest side.
