Opened on Mondays

Hi,

My first (of 3) days in Budapest will be a Monday. Could someone suggest some places that are opened?

Most museums from what I have searched are closed. Are there any open that is worth seeing? Is National Gallery closed?

What about the parliament, the royal palace and St Stephens Cathedral?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

1. Re: Opened on Mondays

Museums are closed, but most of the other major tourist attractions are open: Memento Park, with its collection of Communist-era statuary; Parliament; City Park (and Heroes' Square); the major churches (St. Istvan's Basilica in Pest and Matthias in Buda's Castle Hill); the Great Market Hall. And all of the bath houses are open, too.

Plenty to do on a Monday in Budapest.

Thanks so much for your help! Do you know if the visits to the Opera House will be running as in other days?

According to their website, the Opera House is open for tours on nearly every day of the year, including Mondays,at 3:00PM and 4:00PM. See http://www.operavisit.hu/eng/index.html

They offers tours in six languages (mas eles não falam Português), but since I've never done the Opera House tour, I'm not sure if it's like Parliament where you have to book a tour in a specific language or whether there are language-specific audio guides.

Labyrinth Cave would be open on Mondays from 10am-7pm. Good fun.

have been holdaying in Budapest for last 10 years and always looking for some place we haven't already seen. Last year it was Momento Park - nice local bus ride, but not a lot to do when you get there. Unless you are crazy about Communist statues, hardly worth going.

If you have only 3 days you will have more than enough to see in the city without travelling to outlying areas like that.

The Synaguoge and Cathedral are beautiful, and The Castle District
